Oregon Association for Comprehensive Education

22nd Annual Winter Conference

The Importance of Family Involvement for

Equity, Empowerment, and Engagement

January 22, 2015 through January 24, 2015

OACE works in close collaboration with the Oregon Department of Education and Education Northwest staff to provide up-to-date and important professional development for educators and paraprofessionals as well as resources for parents.

The 2015 OACE conference focus is on Family Engagement (birth to adulthood) with speakers and workshops presenting strategies for educators and parents to support education from cradle to career.

District administrators and school staff will learn about specific family engagement provisions from federal education programs, such as Title I-A (Educationally-Disadvantaged), I-C (Migrant), III (English Language Learners) and VII (Indian Education).*

Workshop offerings will also feature some early childhood topics such as kindergarten assessments, full-day kindergarten, and successful transitions. Concurrent conference offerings specifically for parents and family members will include English and Spanish language workshops, translators, and a 4-hour special parent event on Saturday.

*Districts might consider using federal title funds for staff and parent involvement to send participants to the OACE Winter Conference.
