OACE presents 2023-24 Conference

OACE makes Big Changes for 23-24

The Oregon Association for Comprehensive Education is pleased to announce major improvements to our planned programming for the 2023-2024 School Year.   Read on for more information!

Winter Conference 

OACE's traditional winter conference has a few tweaks!  The original format of the conference was for attendees to arrive on Thursday, spend two nights, and leave Friday afternoon.  For families who were paying to attend out of pocket, this meant three days and two nights of childcare, lodging, meals, etc, which could limit the accessibility of the program to individuals on restricted or limited incomes.  
For 2024 the format will be shorted to a two-day, one night event in order to reduce costs and expenses for all.  Nevertheless, we will be packing in all the same content in to the shorter amount of time.  Instead of the conference ending at noon on Saturday it will end at 3PM, allowing the same amount of time to attend.
Although admission fees have not yet been announced, they are expected to be in line with last year's costs.

Childcare is Coming!

For years, the number one "ask" for OACE Conference Planners has been Childcare, and for 2024 we are going to PILOT an experimental program to do just that!  Two programs, one for PreK-3 and the other grades 4 and up will be presented at OACE for the first 100 registered applicants.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON CHILDCARE

All children and youth must be pre-registered with at least one attending adult on premises at all times. 


Children who misbehave will be returned to their parents until their behavior improves. 

Two levels of Childcare

OACE will present TWO levels of Childcare:  one for younger and one for older.  

PreK- 3rd Grade

Children in PreK-Third Grade may attend the Sunshine Program.   Attendees will enjoy games, movies, crafts, and much more!  Snacks will be plentiful and fun.

Please note:  Proof of current enrollment in a licensed PreK or School-based PreK program is required for children who have not yet entered kindergarten as appropriate school-type behavior must be maintained during this event.  Children must be potty-trained.

Grades 4 - 12

OACE is pleased to partner with Young Leaders Program, a youth civics and leadership summer camp to provide our on-site youth program!  For almost a decade Young Leaders has empowered the next generation of youth as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow!

Slightly different from their Summertime offering, YL will present their popular Origins program, wherein students simulate landing on an alien planet, where they must work together to gather resources and build a civilization.  

Youth ages 14-17 who attend this program at OACE will receive complimentary (free!) admission to the 2024 Summer Program.

Important Information for all

Admission fees for the Children's program have not yet been announced, but is expected to be about $200 per child for both days, which includes all events, meals, snacks, activities, t-shirts, movie night and more!

​Bilingual staff will be present to support students at various levels of language development.   Both programs will be presented in English and Spanish based on the student's needs.

It is important to keep in mind that all of this is a PILOT, under DEVELOPMENT, and subject to CHANGE.  Please check our website or Twitter feed often for details as they develop.

Young Leaders: Origins Program 2022
